Wawrinka vs Murray Live Stream Live Stream US Open 2013 Tennis Quarter Finals Men's Singles
Andy Murray is eyeing a place in his third straight US Open semi-final but Stanislas Wawrinka is a very dangerous opponent.
Wawrinka has always been a wonderful player to watch, a smooth shotmaker in the mould of Roger Federer with a glorious single-handed backhand but this season he's taken his game to a new level, breaking the world's top ten for the first time since 2008.
He reached the French Open quarters in June with an epic victory over Richard Gasquet and he sealed his berth in the last eight at Flushing Meadows by stunning fifth seed Tomas Berdych 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(8), 6-2.
He's looked more impressive than Murray who has made heavy weather of his progress to the last eight, needing four sets to see off both Leonardo Mayer and Denis Istomin, looking rather below par compared to the brilliance on display from Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Murray has a decent record against Wawrinka, leading their head-to-head 8-5 but early on in their careers, the Swiss was a bit of a bogeyman for Murray who didn't manage to beat him until 2008. Wawrinka knocked Murray out of the 2010 US Open in the third round, grinding him down 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-3 and he will go into this match feeling confident after handing him a 6-1, 6-2 battering at the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year.
Murray has been impressed by the quality of Wawrinka's tennis in 2013, saying:

"I don't know if he's working harder. He made a coaching change around the clay-court season, which may have helped him because he was without a coach for quite a while. That could have helped him a bit. The match he had with Novak (Djokovic) in Australia at the beginning of the year, that could have contributed to it as well. There are a lot of things that go into it. But he hasn't changed any of his strokes technically or anything. You'd expect most of it to be confidence."
